So the kids have been coming up with some pretty cool stuff for the slam. At first they kind of stared at me when the director told them I was there to help them write poetry, but over the past few weeks they've really gotten into it. Today I left with this huge stack of papers to look through and suggest ideas for.
Which is cool, except that I've had half a song written for about a month. I still can't figure out the next line. How is it that they're writing nonstop, and I can't come up with one line? Maybe because the topic is complex. Or something.
I even went old school today and listened to some Smashing Pumpkins for inspiration, but nothing. Apparently Billy Corgan wasn't in the mood to help. Not that his writing style and mine are exactly similar, but there's something about their sound - that driving energy - that usually moves me in the right direction.
Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. And if that doesn't work, it'll be time for my last resort. Dylan. If he can't fix it, no one can.
